It is amazing how God will let you go through trials and hardships! He is our "Good Father." Those of you who have children, whether they are still living with you or all grown up and out on their own, know that your children must endure hardships if they are to grow and learn. Our Father does the same with His children... you and me. That is if you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior.
Our Father gives his children rules to live by which is the Bible. Our parents gave us rules too. I remember when I was between the ages of 8-18, we had chores to do every Friday. My sister Glenna, who is the oldest of the five children, would write a list of chores and then assign them to us. The list looked like this:
1. Take out the trash cans to the front yard.
2. Pick up all the dog messes. (we had 3 dogs)
3. Wipe down all the woodwork. (our house was built in 1903...lots of woodwork)
I could list more chores, but for the sake of room on this blog I will stop.
Glenna would write our names at the bottom of the list and place the number of the chore under our name. For example:
David
2_______
3_______
When I finished a chore, I would tell Glenna and she would inspect my work. If she was satisfied, then she would check the chore with a mark. If I completed all my chores on Friday, then I could play outside on Saturday. But, if I did not finish my chores, then I had to them on Saturday.
I learned at a young age to work hard. In fact, all five of us became hard workers.
Many times I felt like a "Slave" having to do my chores on "Clean House Friday." Now, looking back I am able to see how all those chores taught me discipline. One thing for sure, I know how to clean a house!
Our Father will allow trails and hardships as a form of discipline. He loves his children and wants them to grow in their faith. He also desires his children to love and trust him. I knew that my parents love me even though I complained about the chores.
Trust God at all times! He will leave nor forsake you!
I am His,
David Walter Wiseman
